About Us | A note from the coordinator May 15, 2006 In 2003, the Kalamazoo Gay Lesbian Resource Center had very few available resources for transgender people. Their mission statement, their website, and their staff all had transgender people in mind, but no one had yet to take on the major project of fulfilling the resource needs of the transgender community. In March 2003 the time for change had come and the Kalamazoo Transgender Peer Support Group was born. The KTPSG is a network of friends and collaboration with transpeople from all over SW Michigan. The purpose of the group is to provide support in the form of resources and friendship. FTM people have found a wonderful home in the KTPSG but one thing was missing--a conference all their own, in this area, giving them access to educated people from outside their circle of friends. I hope that FTM North will continue to nurture conversation and education, and will serve to empower our community through action and visiblity. I am proud to help present this conference to you and I look forward to meeting you in 2007. Yours, Eric Fleming | |
